President’s Welcome
I welcome you to the Southwest Illinois chapter’s website. My name is “D” and I am proud to be a Charter Member and current President of this chapter. We have a wonderful group of Members and Associates who love nothing more than riding and socializing with Buffalo Soldiers. It is our mission to do good things in our communities and set a positive example as role models for our youth. This year we will be offering our first scholarship to a local area High School graduating Senior. We will continue our involvement with the Rev. Doriss Davis Homeless Shelter and their Christmas program. So far this year we have participated as Race Marshalls in Paraquad’s Annual Roll on the River 5K race for the disabled. Paraquad is a private 501(c)(3), not-for-profit with a mission to empower people with disabilities to increase their independence through choice and opportunity. We assisted a young lady by making a donation that helped to make possible a trip to Washington D.C. where she participated as a member of the Junior National Young Leaders Conference. Our Chapter partnered with the Empowering Visions Literacy Program Summer Camp where we assembled backpacks filled with school supplies for each camper, conducted a briefing on Buffalo Soldier history that included a video and made a contribution that allowed the campers to take a field trip. We believe in helping tomorrow’s leaders today.
We look forward to staying active in the community and taking as many rides as possible to visit our extended family of Buffalo Soldiers.
