Paraquad 2010 “Roll N Race” – Apr 2010
This was the fourth annual Roll N Race sponsored by Paraquad.
Paraquad is a private 501(c)(3), not-for-profit with a mission to empower people with disabilities to increase their independence through choice and opportunity. Founded in 1970, we are one of the oldest non-residential Centers for Independent Living in the country. Paraquad’s guiding principle is to advance the independent living philosophy. We look towards an integrated community in which people with disabilities are valued and participate in all aspects of society.
Paraquad provides over 40 diverse services, addressing the needs of individuals with all types of disabilities. Programs include Assistive Technology, College for Living, Consumer Directed Services, Deaf Way Interpreting, Employment, Independent Living, Public Policy, and Youth and Family. Last year, Paraquad served over 4,000 people with disabilities. As the largest organization serving people with all disabilities, with an emphasis on increased independence, Paraquad is truly distinctive within the St. Louis region.
The Buffalo Soldiers perform as Race Marshalls, ensuring that race participants have the right away on the race course by stopping vehicular traffic for all racers. The race includes wheel chair atheletes, hand bike riders, runners and walkers of all ages.
